How does Acupuncture work?
You have to lie down on a soft massage table while an expert inserts thin needles on the acupoints based on the condition you are suffering. This process awakens the meridians and helps them function properly. At times, stretching or acupressure massage is done before the acupuncture session. Typically, a session lasts for about an hour. However, for best results, it is necessary to undergo multiple sessions, as suggested by the expert.
Acupuncture, in general, is a safe procedure. However, in the case of certain conditions, it is better to avoid acupuncture and go with a traditional treatment method:
- If the area of treatment is anywhere near a cancerous tumour, or if cancer has spread to bones, acupuncture should be avoided.
- People who are suffering from conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, bone diseases, or spinal injuries, should stay away from this procedure.
- If you have varicose veins, do not go for acupuncture.
- Acupuncture should be avoided during pregnancy.
