More hints concerning the location and organization of memories in the brain have recently come to light, according to a new study. It also highlighted how negative memories can lead to mental health problems, including PTSD, depression, and anxiety.

The study team found that in the hippocampus (part of the brain) there are separate regions for the memories associated with good and negative emotions. Additionally, each type of memory communicates with other cells in the brain via a separate neural pathway.

This positive and negative memory mapping may enable researchers to pinpoint negative memories and minimize their effects on those who suffer from anxiety & PTSD
