As devastating it might sound, the possibility of doctors quitting is not false.
According to a survey carried out amidst the pandemic in July 2020, 8 percent of primary care doctors including 16,000 practices have closed their offices in the recent months. Another 4 percent are planning to put the shutter down within next year, which includes several primary care doctors.
While looking for reasons behind this, we have come up with 3 probable causes –
- Primary care doctors are rightfully worried about their own health, and that of their family. Working with patients affected by the virus only increases their risk.
- Some stopped practicing during the worst outbreak and have lost the energy to start all over again.
